Why Choose Ornamental Horticulture Technology?
Course work covers the identification, growth and development of landscape plants. Students learn to identify woody, herbaceous and turfgrass plants used for landscaping purposes. Students also learn how to recognize and safely control the harmful diseases, insects and weeds that affect these plants. Landscape design theories are stressed, helping students produce landscape plans for aesthetically and functionally pleasing environments.
Students have the opportunity to use modern classrooms, greenhouses and laboratories. Practical experience is gained on the University's beautifully landscaped campus and 18-hole golf course.
This two-year associate of applied science degree can be laddered into one of more than 20 advanced degree programs at Ferris including biology, marketing and business.
