This course introduces students to basic network topics and implementation. Topics include: the OSI reference model, internetworking functions performed at each layer of the model, logical and physical network addressing, MAC and IP addresses, data encapsulation. IP address classes, subnetting, TCP/IP network layer protocols, and internetwork implementation. The course is largely Internet based with a strong laboratory component. Networks 1 is the first of four courses designed to ready a student for CCNA certification.
