Why Choose a Polymer Materials Technology Minor?

The Polymer Materials Technology Minor compliments major fields of study in other departments, and enhances students’ major and career goals with a specialization in polymers.  Students benefiting from this minor include, but are not limited to, those enrolled in Chemistry (BS), Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Product Design Engineering Technology, Automotive Engineering Technology, and Business Management.

Expected outcomes of this minor include an understanding of plastics and rubber industry terminology, a knowledge of their most used materials and significant properties and applications, and an understanding of how to measure and evaluate polymer materials’ physical and mechanical properties.  Additional expected outcomes include a knowledge and understanding of typical rubber and plastics fabrication techniques and polymer materials selection as related to materials and product design.

This is an 18-credit minor with 5 credits at 200 level and 5 credits at a 300 level.

Admission Requirements

Departmental Approval.

Graduation Requirements

After completion of the requirements for the minor with a 2.0 GPA.
