The course provides the historical issues and figures of the western
philosophic tradition from Ancient Greece through Empiricism. Included will be such figures as Socrates, Plato, and Artistotle which will provide a means of studying the birth of the major areas of western philosophy such as metaphysics and politics. The medieval period will concentrate on Christian theology through the study of Augustine and Aquinas, followed by Empiricism with the study of Berkeley, Locke and Hume.
