This course provides training and experience in preparation and delivery of short speeches in four purpose types: entertaining, informing, persuading and motivating/inspiring. Students will examine the historical traditions of rhetoric and contemporary theories of public address. It is expected that students will enter this course prepared to speak with fundamental competence. This course is required for Communicaiton majors. Students cannot receive credit in both COMM 121 and COMM 201. Typically Offered Fall, Spring
