Teaching Majors and Minors for Elementary Education Majors
The Elementary Education program requires the completion of two elementary education teaching minors or one elementary education teaching major in addition to a planned program to fulfill the subject area requirements of the program. Students may choose from the subject areas of biology, mathematics, social studies, English, language arts, and early childhood. Elementary education teaching majors are only available in the subject areas of biology, mathematics, and social studies. The early childhood minor is an optional minor and is in addition to the subject area major or minors required.
The elementary education teaching integrated minor is recommended for those who wish to teach at the lower-level elementary grades. Students should consult with an advisor to determine if the integrated science is appropriate for their career goals.
NOTE:
*GPA of 2.75 must be obtained in all required courses
*a minimum of C in any individual course (or transfer equivalent) within the major, and
*a minimum of 6 credit hours of science coursework at the upper level (300+) must be earned at Ferris State University). A 2.75 GPA is required in the Professional Sequence.
