Mold Design (CDTD 221)
Students design and detail single and multiple cavity plastic injection molds and products using drawing boards and computer aided design systems. Analysis of mold cavity fill, gate location(s)-size, runner size, and balance will be evaluated with computer aided mold fill programs. Instruction on the theory, application and practices of: plastic materials, forming and molding methods/machines, mold: bases, venting, cooling, ejectors, materials, heat treatments, fabrication, and finishing practices.
