The U.S. Health Care System (COHP 101)
This course will introduce the student to the foundation, characteristics, history and structure of the U.S. Health Care System. Various health care service settings will be described as well as the roles of various health care providers and professionals. The functions of health insurance, finance and reimbursement will be described. The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) will be presented as well as other ethical-legal aspects of patient rights and responsibilities. Perquisites: ORO 1. Typically offered in Fall, Spring and Summer.
