Directed practice utilizing methodology and instrumentation in the molecular diagnostics laboratory. Techniques using DNA and RNA extraction, purification and quantification methods from blood, body fluids and tissue. Methods that will be used in this course will be polymerase chain reaction (PCR ), Real Time PCR (rt-PCR) and capillary electrophoresis. Co-requisites: DMOL 220, DMOL 221 and DMOL 410. Prerequisites: BIOL 300, BIOL 373, BIOL 375, BIOL 475, CLLS 219, CLLS 231, CLLS 236, CLLS 252, DMOL 210 with a grade of C or better.Typically offered Fall only.
