Literacy: Issues & Conflicts

Max credits: 3
Present and future teachers will examine the issues and conflicts surrounding the implementation of literacy programs. In addition to defining traditional literacy, the course will explore the contemporary literacy debate at the classroom, school system and community levels. Students will be evaluated on a number of projects, including portfolios, article critiques, and a research project.
