History of African-Americans and their impact on American politics, economy, and culture. The emergence of a unique black consciousness is traced from the slave experience to the modern era where the quest for civil rights has found expression in the arts, economic boycotts, and political idealogy. This course meets General Education Requirements: Cultural Enrichment.
