Terrorism in the Modern World (HIST 257)
The course will examine the phenomenon of terrorism in the 19th and 20thcenturies in terms of its origins, scope, purpose, and impact throughout theworld. Students will examine terrorism by the state and against the state;ideological and theological justifications of terrorism; and how modernterrorist networks operate in a global setting. Finally, they will examinethe threat terrorism poses to the state and how the modern state has respondedto this threat. This course meets General Education requirements: Cultural Enrichment and Global Consciousness. Prerequisites: ENGL 150. Typically Offered Fall Even Years.
