Greece and Rome (HIST 258)
Course will consider political, social, intellectual, religious, and economic history of Ancient Greece and of Ancient Rome. Emphasis on Greece will consider its geography's impact on its political and economic development; social and political institutions of Athens and Sparta; Greek philosophy; and Greek culture throughout Mediterranean. Emphasis on Rome will cover birth of the Republic and its political organization; transition from Republic to Empire; expansion of the Empire, as well as eventual decline. This course meets General Education requirements: Cultural Enrichment. Prerequisite: ENGL 150 Typically Offered Spring Even Years.
