Women in Activism Global Persp (HIST 259)
This course will examine the origins of feminist activism and will consider activism at the local, national, and global levels. Emphasis will be placed on the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Settings to be examined include Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia, Latin America and the United States. Global arenas of activism will include labor, health and reproductive rights, peace movements, environmentalism, anti-poverty, ethnic cleansing, and violence against women.This course meets General Education requirements: Cultural Enrichment, Global Consciousness and Race/Ethnicity/Gender Issues. Prerequisites: ENGL 250.
