Democracy on Trial (HIST 421)
This course exposes students to key issues that provoked and tested principles of American Democracy during 19th & 20th centuries. Students explore a wide range of social and political issues that prompted major legal or legislative battles. Students draw from specific case studies as they develop and apply their skills at critically examining issues, tracing their origins, analyzing competing perspectives and assessing both short-term and long-term outcomes. Weekly essay writing & final portfolio. Pre-Requisites: HIST 250 and HIST 121 or HIST 122. Typically Offered Summer Only
