Planning, implementation, and evaluation of teaching literature. Examines the role and function of literature in the schools, critical approaches to literature, current issues (e.g., cultural literacy, censorship, values education, inclusion, discipline, etc.), book selection, planning objectives, interdisciplinary relationships, classroom activities, and methods of assessing student performance. Incorporates a 4-6 week practicum in conjunction with local public schools that will require the student to plan, design, implement, and assess sample teaching units. This course meets General Education requirements: Cultural Enrichment. Pre-Requisites:Junior status & Teacher education students only. Typically Offered Fall, Spring
