EDCD 340 - Family Engagement in EC


This course explores the many connection points that an early childhood educator has with the families that are served. The 6 Types of Family Engagement (Epstein) will be explored. Topics will include interpersonal communication; connecting families with services; promoting the shared partnership of home and school; volunteering in the classroom; classroom social media presence, technology, and other parent resources; how culture and family structure can impact engagement; and promoting advocacy among parents. Typically offered Fall and Spring.
