PPET 212 - Plastics Prod Development 1This course will provide the student with the knowledge of plastics product and tool design as it pertains to successful production tooling. Special emphasis will be given to understanding the role of the following critical elements in Plastic Product and Tool Design: Plastic Material selection, Mold Filling analysis, Mold Components and their functions, Compression/Transfer Mold Design, Injection Mold Design, Plastic Part Design Criteria, Blow Mold Design, Extrusion/ Die Design, Rotational Mold Design, Thermoform Mold Design, Heating and Cooling of Molds, Runner and Gate Design, Tool Steels/Heat Treating selection, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
