EXSI 308 - Nutrition for Sport and ExerciseIn this course students will explore the role of nutrition in enhancing athletic performance, promoting recovery, and supporting overall health in physically active individuals. Students will study the principles of human nutrition with a focus on the unique dietary needs of athletes and active populations. Key topics include the functions and metabolism of macronutrients (carbohydrates, proteins, and fats) and micronutrients (vitamins and minerals), the timing of nutrient intake, and hydration strategies. The course also covers the impact of nutrition on energy production, muscle function, and body composition, as well as the role of dietary supplements and ergogenic aids.Typically offered in Spring.
