GEOL 131 - Geology and Land Use Mgmt


Examines the geologic factors important to making wise land-use decisions. Hazards of development in areas prone to earthquakes, volcanoes, flooding, mass-wasting, and shoreline erosion are considered, together with hazard reduction measures. The impact of development on resources such as soil and groundwater is also considered. This course meets General Education requirements: Scientific Understanding, Lab and new Fall 2017 Natural Sciences Lab. Typically Offered Fall Only
