HIST 315 - Social Justice MovementsCourse explores key social justice movements and influential activists from 1900 to present. Students will examine social, political, and economic factors that fostered social resistance and demands for change. Among possible topics-Women's Suffrage, Black Civil Rights, American Indian Movement, United Farm Workers, ACT-UP, Black Lives Matter, Me Too Movement. Class will study lesser known events and personalities as well as address the significance of grassroots activism. This course meets General Education Requirements: Cultural Enrichment, Race/Ethnicity/Gender, and new Fall 2017 Culture and U.S. Diversity,. Typically Offered Fall Semester.
