HIST 361 - Genocide in the Modern WorldThis course offers a history of racism in the modern world, from European colonial expansion to the present. Special emphasis will be placed upon the post-World War II era and racism's impact on the United States, Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Topics include: anti-Semitism and the rise of racism in the modern world; global migration and ethnic relations in the 19th and 20th centuries; race science and the eugenics movement, and contemporary racist ideologies including the theological, scientific and ideological bases for modern racist movements. Meets General Education Requirements for Culture and Global. Typically offered Fall semester.
