SCWK 210 - Intro to Social Welfare


This course explores the historical development and current landscape of the social services system and policies in the United States. Students will explore the evolution of pivotal programs, examining their impact on individuals, families, and communities. The course will critically analyze the roles of social workers in policy formulation, implementation, and advocacy within these systems. Through case studies and discussions, students will gain insights into the intersections of policy, social justice, and professional practice in social work. It is strongly recommended that students complete SCWK 191   prior to enrolling. Typically Offered Fall and Spring.
