SPAN 301 - Advanced Spanish 1The purpose of this course is to strengthen students' communicative abilities in Spanish in the four language skills essential to everyday communication: listening, speaking, reading, and writing, as well as to enhance the students' knowledge of the Spanish-speaking world cultures and societies with an emphasis on Spanish and their specific professional fields. Classroom activities and homework are designed to help students build their oral proficiency, expand, and refine vocabulary knowledge and grammatical structures, improve reading and writing skills, to develop critical thinking, and gain cultural competency. Throughout the semester students will research and analyze different types of authentic texts in Spanish and produce descriptive and narrative written assignments. This course meets General Education requirements: Global Consciousness; Cultural Enrichment, and new Fall 2017 Culture and Global.
