SPAN 343 - Hispanic Cinema


The purpose of this course is to engage students in the exploration of the diverse culture of the contemporary Hispanic world. As such, students will improve their linguistic competency and critical thinking skills through the analysis and discussion of selected films produced in the Spanish-speaking world. Students will explore the topics and content through films, reading and writing, lectures, interactions with the instructor and classmates, interpretation, analyses, collaborative activities, discussions, and research projects to connect the diversity of Hispanic cultures and their representation as one of the components of the language learning experience. This course meets General Education requirements Cultural Enrichment and Global Consciousness and new Fall 2017 Culture and Global Diversity. Typically Offered Fall, odd years.
