SPAN 350 - Span Culture Professions


The purpose of this course is to enhance Spanish communicative skills and cultural knowledge and competency in professional settings with emphasis on the career areas of healthcare, social services and outreach, and business. The materials and activities for this class will help students acquire specialized vocabulary and important cultural components to effectively communicate in their professional field with Spanish speakers in the US and abroad. Throughout the semester, students will read and discuss specialized texts for their profession, they will research key vocabulary and expressions to create dialogues, and practice basic translation and interpretation in their professional field. This course meets General Education requirements Cultural Enrichment and Global Consciousness and Problem Solving and Collaboration. Typically offered Fall.
