ESPN 444 - Language and Communication of Student with Autism Spectrum Disorder


Students will understand the development of social communication and will compare typical development to the characteristics of social communication of students with autism spectrum disorder, for example, pragmatic functions of communication and language such as the relationships of communication, language, social skills, and emotional expression/nonverbal communication; expressive and receptive language development and patterns; and developing supports for communication such as alternative and augmentative communication systems. Students are required to complete 40 hours of field experience with students with ASD . Typically offered in Fall, Spring and Summer
