ESPN 499 - Student Teaching - Special Education


During this 15-week experience, student teachers receive practical experience under the guidance of mentor teachers in planning lessons, classroom management and instructional delivery with students with special needs. Student teachers are given increasing responsibility in the classroom over the first few weeks, eventually assuming the responsibility of a lead teacher. Student teaching is assigned at the appropriate area of disability and levels in elementary or secondary public schools. Students will participate in regularly scheduled seminar meetings which add additional support and coverage of topics required by the Michigan Department of Education. Students are required to complete a minimum of 360 hours. Typically offered in Fall and Spring
