Students will engage with leading theories on how identities are constructed, expressed, and negotiated in various communication contexts. Through critical reflection on personal experiences and communication patterns, students will examine how power dynamics shape interactions at intrapersonal, interpersonal, and group levels. The course also investigates the role of media, language, and social structures in reinforcing or challenging stereotypes, inequalities, and social divisions, equipping students with tools to navigate and influence diverse communication environments thoughtfully and ethically. Typically offered Fall, even years.
