PLSC 341 - International Politics


Traces shifting patterns of power in 20th Century international politics. Is a new pattern emerging? What is America’s place in the world? Explores the roots of American foreign policy. Current events are used to illustrate basic principles of state behavior. Examines nationalism, terrorism, trade, economic development, military trends, arms control, diplomacy, and Third World issues. Why do nations go to war? What are the conditions of peace? Class discussion is encouraged. This course meets general education requirements: Social Awareness, Global Consciousness; Race/Ethnicity/Gender Issues and new Fall 2017 Global Diversity, US Diversity and Self and Society.
