READ 176 - Analytical Reading Improve students’ analytical reading ability and reading efficiency as needed for advanced college-level material and necessary for research papers and projects. Instruction is designed to assist in the improvement of effective reading skills needed for comprehension, interpretation, analysis and synthesis of college-level content. Critical comprehension skills, such as making inferences, distinguishing between facts and opinions, recognizing biases, making critical judgements, understanding cultural differences, relating social systems and theories, and making critical judgments, are emphasized. These skills are designed to be applicable to texts in other college courses. Meets General Education requirements for Self and Society Typically offered: Fall, Spring Level: UG Credit Hours: 3
