EDLA 311 - Adv Foundations of Lit PK-3 This course provides an in-depth and integrated understanding of how literacy constructs develop across grades PK-3 (including print concepts, phonological awareness, phonics, spelling, handwriting, vocabulary, word recognition, morphology, fluency, comprehension, syntax, and composition). Teacher candidates will identify and use developmentally appropriate literacy assessments to describe an individual’s current literacy development and to set appropriate literacy goals. Teacher candidates will also identify and select culturally responsive and developmentally appropriate instructional practices in relation to literacy goals. An exploratory field component is included to develop skills related to instruction and assessment of literacy constructs. Typically offered Fall and Spring only. Level: UG Credit Hours: 3
