ARTH 310 - History of Modern Art This course examines the history of Modern Art, from the late nineteenth century through present day. Students will examine the historical, theoretical, and aesthetic issues often expressed in the art of the modern period. Topics include the avant-garde, abstraction, and non-representational art. Media studied include painting, sculpture, architecture, graphic arts, photography, and film. Students will also develop the skills and vocabulary to discuss works of art, paying careful attention to the formal elements of art and the principles of design. This course meets general education requirements: Cultural Enrichment, and new Fall 2017 Culture. Typically Offered On Demand Level: UG Credit Hours: 3
