BIOL 421 - Endocrinology An in-depth investigation of vertebrate (particularly human) endocrinology. Topics will include hormone structure, hormone synthesis, the mechanisms of hormone action, endocrine disruptors, and the roles of hormones in calcium metabolism, digestive physiology, reproduction, growth, and the stress and sympathetic responses. The hormones of the major endocrine glands will be investigated. There will also be an introduction to various techniques used in endocrinological research. This course includes the reading and understanding of primary scientific literature. Typically Offered: Fall of even years Level: UG Credit Hours: 3
