COHP 101 - The U.S. Health Care System

An introduction to the health care system as a basis for understanding the roles and responsibilities of health care providers and services. Emphasis will be placed on human interactions. Topics include social and market justice systems, governmental and community roles, ethical - legal aspects, disparities, special needs populations, long term care, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and insurance/reimbursement. . Meets General Education requirements for Self and Society. Typically offered in Fall, Spring and Summer.
