ENGL 582 - History - Struct of English The course will examine the history of the English language from its Indo-European roots to the present time. The course will also focus on structure within a comparative grammars framework; traditional grammar, structural grammar and transformational-generative grammar will be studied. This background in English history and structure will be particularly helpful to English Education graduate students and to teachers presently teaching English in high schools and junior colleges.
