NURS 823 - Healthcare and Social Policy


This course is focused on the constructs of social justice and social determinants in population healthcare. It will explore the legislative and economic policies and policy pathways impacting healthcare. Policy change processes, issues, implications, and policies currently intersecting with and impacting healthcare will be appraised. Social issues such as vulnerable populations, health disparities at the individual, community, state, national levels, health literacy, provider shortages, and economics of healthcare will be the focus of this course.US healthcare structures and systems will be examined along with worldwide healthcare structures and models in the framework of current healthcare issues. Typically offered Summer.
