SCWK 510 - Policy Analysis & Advocacy This is a foundation MSW course. SCWK 510 focuses on the history of social welfare policy, with emphasis placed on the role of historical trauma, privilege, and oppression in policy development and evolution. Students will apply critical analytical strategies as they relate to social welfare, from a trauma-informed, anti-racist and social justice lens. The role of the social work profession in policy processes, advocacy, and development is discussed. Students will also compare personal and professional values as well as the values underlying the social welfare system, particularly the principles of social and economic justice and trauma-informed care Typically offered Spring.
