SCWK 610 - Advanced Leadership/Supervision, Policy & Advocacy


This is an Advanced MSW course designed to gain the knowledge, values, and skills necessary for leadership, clinical supervision, and applied policy practice. The course emphasizes the role of policy advocacy for social workers in clinical practice, evaluation of social policy and methods for policy change at all levels, as well as the alignment of the mission of a human service agency with the needs of the clients, the programmatic offerings, and the larger policy landscape (organization, community, state, and federal policy). Students will identify their individual leadership styles, understand where their strengths, skills, and styles are poised to be most beneficial to their social work practice. Students will also gain knowledge and skills for effective leadership and supervision within human service organizations. Typically offered: Fall, Spring, Summer
