SPAN 425 - Spanish Language Pedagogy


The purpose of this course is to prepare students to enter the classroom knowing how to develop and implement best practices for optimal practical training on course organization and delivery. Students will learn the principles of second language acquisition and language teaching approaches. This course will help students develop teaching language skills through readings and discussions on second language acquisition theory. Readings will be supplemented with observation in a classroom setting, teaching a mock class lesson, as well as developing a portfolio with pedagogical activities, a resume or curriculum vitae, a sample course syllabus, and a statement of teaching philosophy related to teaching Spanish.
