Graduate Certificate
The goal of the 9 credit Advanced Graduate Certificate in Career & Technical Education (CTE) Administration is to develop performance for CTE professionals in the practice of managing CTE programs. The program will increase understanding of CTE administrative policies and procedures including legal and ethical practices and provide participants with leadership capabilities to implement effective CTE programs that increase student retention and prepare students for a globally competitive workforce.

Program Outcomes
- To prepare practitioners committed to best practices in educational leadership.
- To develop and manage a Career and Technical Education (CTE) program including funding, instructional program development and operation, student support services and data, evaluation, and accountability.
- To apply the fundamental legal principles found in federal and state law, the constitutions of the United States and Michigan, case law and regulations to school administration.
New Student Admission Requirements
- Hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a 3.00 or higher GPA (on a 4.00 scale)
- Submit official transcripts from all institutions of higher education previously attended. Ferris graduates need not submit transcripts for coursework completed at Ferris.
- International students whose first (native) language is not English need to have English proficiency test scores sent directly from the testing agency to demonstrate meeting the Ferris standards for English proficiency (e.g., TOEFL, IELTS, and Duolingo).
These requirements also apply to Transfer Students.

Notes
- Students who return to the university after an interrupted enrollment, not including summer semester, must normally meet the requirements of the curriculum which are in effect at the time of their return, not the requirements which were in effect when they were originally admitted.
- The goal of the nine-credit Graduate Certificate in Advanced CTE Administration is to develop performance for Career and Technical Education (CTE) professionals in the practice of managing Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs. The program will increase understanding of Career and Technical Education (CTE) administrative policies and procedures, including legal and ethical practices and provide participants with leadership capabilities to implement effective Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs that increase student retention and prepare students for a globally competitive workforce. This Graduate Certificate in Advanced CTE Administration can be taken as a separate certificate or as part of the Master of Science in Career and Technical Education (MSCTE) program.
- Credit Variance - Credits required may vary based on course placement, prerequisites, etc. If you have questions, contact your advisor.
Graduation Requirements
In order to graduate from Ferris State University, students must meet both University and Programmatic Graduation Requirements. University Graduation Requirements
These are the minimum graduation requirements for a graduate certificate at Ferris State University:
- A minimum of 6 credits within the certificate must be earned.
- A GPA of 3.00 or higher must be achieved for the courses within the certificate.
- A minimum of 70 percent of the degree requirements must be earned from Ferris State University to meet the Residency requirement.
- A minimum grade of C or higher must be earned in each course with no more than two grades of C.
- No more than 6 hours can be independent study and/or special topics.
- Degree requirements shall be completed within 5 years from first enrollment in a graduate course following admission.
- Each student must complete a thesis, graduate project, policy paper, internship, comprehensive examination, or additional course work.
Programmatic Graduation Requirements
These are the additional graduation requirements mandated by the program:
- All requirements as specified in the All Certificate Requirements section must be met.
