Undergraduate Certificate

The Basic Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Programming and Machine Operations certificate gives you hands-on experience in working with CNC machines. You will learn how to program, setup, and operate CNC mills and lathes. The required course sequence provides a well-rounded experience in basic machining,3D parametric solid modeling, and CNC programming and machine operation. This certificate is a great compliment to any manufacturing-related technical or business program because it combines closely related technical skills that are in high demand throughout the industry

Program Outcomes


1.  Students will be able to read and write M&G code

2.  Students will be able to set-up and run machining centers

3.  Students will be able to model parts using CAD software

4.  Students will be ab le to program toolpaths for a part using CAM software


 

Admission Requirements


New Student Admission Requirements


  • 2.50 High School GPA (on a 4.00 scale)
  • Placement into MATH 115  concurrently

Transfer Student Admission Requirements


  • 2.00 College GPA (on a 4.00 scale)
  • Competency in MATH 115  concurrently

  • Students who return to the university after an interrupted enrollment, not including summer semester, must normally meet the requirements of the curriculum which are in effect at the time of their return, not the requirements which were in effect when they were originally admitted.

University Graduation Requirements


These are the minimum graduation requirements for an undergraduate certificate at Ferris State University:

  • A GPA of 2.00 or higher must be achieved for the courses within the certificate.
  • A minimum of 6 credits within the certificate must be earned.
  • A minimum of 50 percent of certificate credits must be earned from Ferris State University to meet the Residency requirement.

Programmatic Graduation Requirements


These are the additional graduation requirements mandated by the program:

  • All requirements as specified in the All Certificate Requirements section must be met.
  • For students seeking a degree from Ferris State University, a maximum of 50 percent of the certificate credits can be from courses required in their program/major.
  • A minimum grade of C- must be earned in all certificate courses.
