Undergraduate Certificate

The ISIN program is in a unique position to offer cloud computing courses by leveraging their AWS Academy partnership and designation as well as faculty accreditation and certifications in cloud computing and cybersecurity. The Cloud Computing certificate can be completed independent of the ISIN program or as part of the ISIN Bachelor of Science degree. The Cloud Computing certificate is a foundational certificate with 100 and 200 level courses in cybersecurity, networking, and cloud computing. The certificate is designed for traditional college students, non-traditional college students, and high school dual enrollment students.

Program Outcomes


  1. Theory and Practice - Develop fundamental skills that are necessary to participate as a member of a cloud computing and cybersecurity team and effectively integrate fundamental theories and practice.
  2. Cybersecurity Fundamentals - Develop fundamental skills for understanding and identifying cybersecurity threats; understand how to apply fundamental personal and organizational cybersecurity practices.
  3. Cloud Computing Fundamentals - Develop skills for understanding, identifying, and applying common cloud computing services including security, data storage, computation, and virtual cloud networks.
  4. Network Security Fundamentals - Develop skills for understanding, identifying, and applying computer network hardware, software, and network security fundamentals.

Admission Requirements


New Student Admission Requirements


  • 2.35 HS GPA (on a 4.0 scale) and/or 16/900 ACT/SAT
  • Applicant should show proof of high school graduation with a 2.35 GPA (on a 4.00 scale). If it is determined by the College of Business Dean’s Office/Student Academic Affairs that regular program admission criteria should be met in order to complete the certificate successfully and be a contributing member of the course, all college transcripts should be submitted to the Admissions Office.

Transfer Student Admission Requirements


  • 2.35 College GPA (on a 4.0 scale)
  • No more than 50% of the credits may be transferred from another institution.

Notes


  • Students who return to the university after an interrupted enrollment, not including summer semester, must normally meet the requirements of the curriculum which are in effect at the time of their return, not the requirements which were in effect when they were originally admitted.
  • CLOU 280  can be taken for 1 to 3 credits. If the student takes CLOU 280  for 1 credit, they can retake CLOU 280  again until they earn 3 credits for the course or take a directed elective instead of CLOU 280 .
  • Credit Variance - Credits required may vary based on course placement, prerequisites, etc. If you have questions, contact your advisor.

Graduation Requirements


In order to graduate from Ferris State University, students must meet both University and Programmatic Graduation Requirements.

University Graduation Requirements


These are the minimum graduation requirements for an undergraduate certificate at Ferris State University:

  • A GPA of 2.00 or higher must be achieved for the courses within the certificate.
  • A minimum of 6 credits within the certificate must be earned.
  • A minimum of 50 percent of certificate credits must be earned from Ferris State University to meet the Residency requirement.

Programmatic Graduation Requirements


These are the additional graduation requirements mandated by the program:

  • All requirements as specified in the All Certificate Requirements section must be met.
  • For students seeking a degree from Ferris State University, a maximum of 50 percent of the certificate credits can be from courses required in their program/major.
  • A term prior to completion of the certificate, students must log into MyFSU and complete the “Apply for Graduation”. You will receive an email back with the next steps to take. Once this is done, the Graduation Secretary will notify the Registrar who will note the completion of the certificate.
