Undergraduate Certificate
The Event Management certificate is designed to provide meeting and event professionals with the skills and foundation of knowledge necessary to excel in this dynamic industry. Research, planning, promotion, and management of events requires education and training on market analysis and strategic design, negotiations and contract development, meeting and event service standards, project planning and execution, budget and financial management, event production and protocols, and experience delivery. The foundation for successful event management by our alumni is established with completion of this certificate. The event management certificate can complement any degree program and lead to a diverse array of career opportunities. Samples of employment include:
- Conference Coordinator
- Wedding Planning Professional
- Non-profit Event Coordinator
- Event Operations Manager

Program Outcomes
- Integrate effective sales and service techniques required for effective convention and meetings management.
- Develop project documents addressing goals, budget, and production for successful event management.
- Design cohesive event experiences to support client and industry need.
New Student Admission Requirements
- 2.35 HS GPA (on a 4.0 scale) and/or 16/900 ACT/SAT
- Applicant should show proof of high school graduation with a 2.35 GPA (on a 4.00 scale). If it is determined by the College of Business Dean’s Office/Student Academic Affairs that regular program admission criteria should be met in order to complete the certificate successfully and be a contributing member of the course, all college transcripts should be submitted to the Admissions Office.
Transfer Student Admission Requirements
- 2.35 College GPA (on a 4.0 scale)
- No more than 50% of the credits may be transferred from another institution.

Notes
- Students who return to the university after an interrupted enrollment, not including summer semester, must normally meet the requirements of the curriculum which are in effect at the time of their return, not the requirements which were in effect when they were originally admitted.

Graduation Requirements
In order to graduate from Ferris State University, students must meet both University and Programmatic Graduation Requirements.
University Graduation Requirements
These are the minimum graduation requirements for an undergraduate certificate at Ferris State University:
- A GPA of 2.00 or higher must be achieved for the courses within the certificate.
- A minimum of 6 credits within the certificate must be earned.
- A minimum of 50 percent of certificate credits must be earned from Ferris State University to meet the Residency requirement.
Programmatic Graduation Requirements
These are the additional graduation requirements mandated by the program:
- All requirements as specified in the All Certificate Requirements section must be met.
- For students seeking a degree from Ferris State University, a maximum of 50 percent of the certificate credits can be from courses required in their program/major.
- A term prior to completion of the certificate, students must log into MyFSU and complete the “Apply for Graduation”. You will receive an email back with the next steps to take. Once this is done, the Graduation Secretary will notify the Registrar who will note the completion of the certificate.
