Certificate Program
The Certificate in Facility Management is designed for working professionals to expand their understanding of facility management and advance their careers.Those enrolled in the program are typically working in facility operations roles at universities, government agencies, and varied business organizations.Courses help prepare students for successful completion of the International Facility Management Association’s (IFMA) Certified Facility Management (CFM)exam. This credential sets the industry standard ensuring professional excellence and recognition Students will learn how facility management issues andmethods relate to and complement each other. They will understand the relationship between planning/construction and operations/maintenance activities;develop abilities to plan and manage projects; learn to anticipate and estimate resource requirements and to evaluate and re-engineer facility maintenanceand operations practices.

Program Outcomes
- Student demonstrates appropriate problem solving approach and applies appropriate academic and technical skills to solve problems.
- Student demonstrates written communication that is clear and uses proper grammar and vocabulary.
- Students will demonstrate ability to identify and discuss facility management principles and concepts and to complete assignments related to various facility management principles.
- Students will be able to discuss and apply concepts from course to develop a facility program.
- Students will apply project management principles to manage a project from start to finish.
- Students will understand concepts related to building diagnostics and maintenance and develop an effective plan and budget for facility maintenance.

- Students who return to the university after an interrupted enrollment, not including summer semester, must normally meet the requirements of the curriculum which are in effect at the time of their return, not the requirements which were in effect when they were originally admitted.

Graduation Requirements
In order to graduate from Ferris State University, students must meet both University and Programmatic Graduation Requirements.
University Graduation Requirements
These are the minimum graduation requirements for an undergraduate certificate at Ferris State University:
- A GPA of 2.00 or higher must be achieved for the courses within the certificate.
- A minimum of 6 credits within the certificate must be earned.
- A minimum of 50 percent of certificate credits must be earned from Ferris State University to meet the Residency requirement.
Programmatic Graduation Requirements
These are the additional graduation requirements mandated by the program:
- All requirements as specified in the All Certificate Requirements section must be met.
- A minimum grade of C- must be earned in all certificate courses.
