Bachelor of Fine Arts
This Life Sciences and Pre-Medical Illustation program prepares students to enter into the life sciences illustration field by providing them an aggressive and challenging four-year course of study. Our students are provided with a wide variety of courses that include, but are not limited to, drawing, medical illustration methods, traditional media illustration courses, computer animation, rendering, medical terminology, and computer-aided 3D design. Courses in general education are also studied to broaden conceptual boundaries that afford the students a well-rounded educational experience.
The life sciences illustration student is a visual problem solver. As an integral part of the creative processes our students do background research, including reading scientific papers, meeting with scientific experts and taking part in many laboratory procedures.
A life sciences illustrator is a professional artist with advanced education in both the life sciences and visual communication. Collaborating with scientists, physicians, and other specialists, life science illustrators transform complex information into visual images that have the potential to communicate to broad audiences. The work of life science illustrators promotes education, research, patient care, public relations, and marketing efforts.
