Postgraduate Certificate

Project management professionals are needed in information technology, construction, health care, finance, marketing, supply chain, manufacturing, and other industries. The certificate is designed to prepare students and working professionals for careers in project management and prepare them to take Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) exams. The Project Management Body of Knowledge is used as the global standard for project management and describes waterfall and Agile principles. Scrum is introduced as an emerging project management framework. Courses focus on project scheduling, budgeting, risk management, communication, team building, and procurement. Completing the project management certificate satisfies the number of contact hours required to take the PMP and CAPM exams.

Program Outcomes


1. Gain expertise in analyzing and applying project management principles to produce effective solutions that serve a global community.
2. Develop best practices in leadership, communication and management of in person and virtual teams that incorporate ethical team building managerial techniques and conflict resolution.
3. Construct risk management plans that include risk monitoring, risk assessment, risk contingency, and risk mitigation strategies that incorporate quality standards and project goals.

Admission Requirements


New Student Admission Requirements


  • 2.35 HS GPA (on a 4.0 scale) and/or 16/900 ACT/SAT
  • Applicant should show proof of high school graduation with a 2.35 GPA (on a 4.00 scale). If it is determined by the College of Business Dean’s Office/Student Academic Affairs that regular program admission criteria should be met in order to complete the certificate successfully and be a contributing member of the course, all college transcripts should be submitted to the Admissions Office.

Transfer Student Admission Requirements


  • 2.35 College GPA (on a 4.0 scale)
  • No more than 50% of the credits may be transferred from another institution.

  • Students who return to the university after an interrupted enrollment, not including summer semester, must normally meet the requirements of the curriculum which are in effect at the time of their return, not the requirements which were in effect when they were originally admitted.
  • Credit Variance - Credits required may vary based on course placement, prerequisites, etc. If you have questions, contact your advisor.

Graduation Requirements


In order to graduate from Ferris State University, students must meet both University and Programmatic Graduation Requirements.

University Graduation Requirements


These are the minimum graduation requirements for a graduate certificate at Ferris State University:
• A minimum of 6 credits within the certificate must be earned.
• A GPA of 3.00 or higher must be achieved for the courses within the certificate.
• A minimum of 70 percent of the degree requirements must be earned from Ferris State University to meet the Residency
requirement.
• A minimum grade of C or higher must be earned in each course with no more than two grades of C.
• No more than 6 hours can be independent study and/or special topics.
• Degree requirements shall be completed within 5 years from first enrollment in a graduate course following admission.

 

Programmatic Graduation Requirements


These are the additional graduation requirements mandated by the program:
