Performance Motorsports (PMOT-CT-TE) Certificate

Undergraduate Certificate

The Performance Motorsports certificate will allow students to be able to integrate principles of engine design and testing with principles of forced induction. Studies include design, disassembly, machining, performance modifications, and precision rebuilding. Flow bench analysis, dynamometers, performance header selection, and camshaft indexing.

Program Outcomes

Students will examine, measure, and analyze engine components, determine the service requirements, and perform the required machining needs.
Students will select the proper size turbocharger using specific vehicle application information provided by the instructor and mathematical formulas which they have entered into their own Excel spreadsheet.
Students will collaborate in small teams to collect and evaluate data related to engine performance.

ACT Score of 18 or SAT Score of 950

Students who return to the university after an interrupted enrollment, not including summer semester, must normally meet the requirements of the curriculum which are in effect at the time of their return, not the requirements which were in effect when they were originally admitted.

University Graduation Requirements

These are the minimum graduation requirements for an undergraduate certificate at Ferris State University:

A GPA of 2.00 or higher must be achieved for the courses within the certificate.
A minimum of 6 credits within the certificate must be earned.
A minimum of 50 percent of certificate credits must be earned from Ferris State University to meet the Residency requirement.

Programmatic Graduation Requirements

These are the additional graduation requirements mandated by the program:

All requirements as specified in the All Certificate Requirements section must be met.
A minimum grade of C- must be earned in all certificate courses.
