Associate of Applied Science
The Associate of Applied Science in Engineering Technology offers students hands-on experience in a variety of engineering-related technologies. Students will apply problem solving and STEM skills in technical applications. Graduates of the associate degree will often continue and complete a College of Engineering Technology bachelor’s degree program.

Program Outcomes
1. Identify and solve problems by employing hands-on application of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) skills and technologies.
2. Collaborate as a productive and competent member of a technical team.
3. Communicate effectively in a technical environment, using written, oral, and graphical systems.
4. Continue personal and professional development by committing to quality, timeliness, and continual improvement through life-long learning.
New Student Admissions Requirements
- 2.50 High School GPA (on a 4.00 scale) or SAT Score of 900 or ACT Score of 17
Transfer Student Admissions Requirements
- Combined college or university GPA of 2.00 (on a 4.00 scale) from all institutions attended. GPA based on completion of 12 credit hours or more. Developmental courses will not be considered in computing the GPA requirement.
University Requirements - 19 to 20 Credits Required
First Year Seminar Requirement (FSUS 100 or Equivalent) - 0 to 1 Credit Required
All First-Time-In-Any-College Freshmen (FTIACs) must complete a one-credit FSUS 100 course, or its equivalent. Additional information and the definition of FTIAC for FSUS purposes can be found in the: Ferris State University Academic Affairs FSUS Policy.
University General Education Requirements - 19 Credits Required
Courses in this section are required to satisfy the University General Education Requirements for an associate degree. The University General Education requirements can be found on the: Ferris State University General Education Requirements Webpage
Communication Competency - 6 Credits Required (or Their Equivalent)
Quantitative Literacy Competency - 4 Credits Required (or Their Equivalent)
Students may not substitute MATH 115 for MATH 114. However, students must substitute General Education elective credits for MATH 114 if their Math ACT score is 24 or higher or their SAT score is 580 or higher.

Natural Sciences Competency - 4 Credits Required
One course is required with a minimum of 3 credits: must be a lab course.
Cultural Competency - 3 Credits Required
Self and Society Competency - 3 Credits Required
College Requirements - 41 Credits Required
Major Courses - 41 Credits Required (Consult Advisor)
Courses taken within this section are determined by chosen pathway, consult your advisor. A minimum of 30 of the 41 major credits must be earned from College of Engineering Technology courses at Ferris State University. A minimum of 6 credits within this section must be at the 200 level or higher.
Notes
- Students who return to the university after an interrupted enrollment, not including summer semester must normally meet the requirements of the curriculum which are in effect at the time of their return, not the requirements which were in effect when they were originally admitted.

In order to graduate from Ferris State University, students must meet both University and Programmatic Graduation Requirements.
University Graduation Requirements
These are the minimum graduation requirements for an associate degree at Ferris State University:
- All requirements as specified in the University Requirements section must be met.
- A minimum of 60 credits must be earned.
- a 2.00 or higher cumulative Ferris State University GPA is required.
- A minimum of 15 credits must be earned from Ferris State University to meet the Residency requirement.
Programmatic Graduation Requirements
These are the additional graduation requirements mandated by the program:
- All requirements as specified in the College Requirements section must be met.
- A minimum of 30 credits in the Major Courses section must be earned in College of Engineering Technology courses at Ferris State University.
- A Minimum of 6 credits in the Major Courses section must be at the 200 level or higher.
