Associate in Fine Arts

This is a two year program that prepares you for continuing study toward a bachelor’s degree in Studio Arts. Students earning an Associate of Fine Arts in Studio Arts will develop the fundamental knowledge, skills, concepts, and sensitivities essential to the professional life of the artist. The student must exhibit basic technical competence and broad knowledge of studio practices, the ability to integrate art knowledge and skills, and an insight into the role of art in intellectual and cultural life.

 

Admissions Requirements


New Student Admission Requirements


  • 2.5 High School GPA (on a 4.00 scale)
  • Students with a lower GPA are still encouraged to apply.
  • While a portfolio is required for admission to KCAD bachelor’s degree programs, you do NOT need to submit a portfolio when applying to our associate degree programs.

Transfer Student Admission Requirements


  • 2.50 College GPA (on a 4.00 scale)

Graduation Requirements


  • Complete 63 semester credit hours.
  • Complete a studio major program of study (at least half of the major credits must be in residence at KCAD).
  • Complete all Supportive, Art History, and General Education requirements.
  • Complete a minimum of 15 semester hours in residence at KCAD
  • Earn a minimum overall grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 or higher, and a minimum GPA of 2.25 in the major studio core (studio electives exempted).
  • Submit a digital image of work.
  • Be in good standing with the College.
